All children are invited to take part in the Sligo Community Games. Forms have been distributed. Should you wish to take part fill in the required information and return it with €3.00 entry fee. Well done to the student council for organizing a super event for Crumlins childrens hospital. Lots of money was raised and well done to everyone for taking part. Tomorrow is happy heart day. We welcome Síobhan O Shea to speak to the junior rooms and Maura Heffernan to speak to the senior rooms about the importance of healthy eating and its importance for having a healthy heart. We look forward to their talk.
We had a very busy day today. We had a special visitor in to see our art. She was very impressed by all our hard work so much so that she gave of no homework tonight (",). After that we made some yummy pancakes. We even got to flip one. We said our rhyme for Pancake Tuesday also. Mix a Pancake.
Mix a pancake, Stir a pancake, Pop it in the pan; Fry the pancake, Toss the pancake, Catch it if you can. In the last week we have been looking at the frog. We worked on a class display together of the life cycle of the frog. We learned that the stages of the life cycle are frogspawn to tadpole to frog-let and frog. Fr Vincent even lent us a hand to paint our display. After listening to the story of The Good Shepherd we made some sheep. We weaved wool around a cut paper plate. We used different coloured wool. They were tricky to start but we got the hang of them by the end. What a wonderful day we had on Wednesday for Grandparents Day. Grandparents came from near and far to the day. Huge thanks to Fr Vincent for coming to celebrate the day, the parents and families who kindly sent in beautiful cakes, buns, tarts and biscuits for the day and finally the parents in particular Deirdre Haran, Jackie Mc Gowan and Angela Davey who helped out on the day and prior to the day getting cups etc from the hall. We greatly appreciate it. We hope that all the Grandads, Grannys and indeed Great Grannys enjoyed the day as much as we did. As Spring has sprung we have started to look at what we will begin to see in Spring. We began by discussing the Lifecyle of the Frog in SESE. Using our bubble print background from last week we decided to draw frogs. Using pencils and crayons we made drawings based on the frog. We explored the shape and colour of the frogs habitat and items that we could add to our drawings that would enhance our pictures like ponds, birds, lily pads etc. We brainstormed some ideas and these were incorporated into our pictures. We proudly showed them to our class at the end of the lesson and discussed our drawings.
