In music today we looked at the instruments from the brass family. It was interesting to hear about the various instruments and the sounds they made.
In Irish this week we have been working on the theme "An Téilifís". Here the children from 3rd class incorporated a little Gaeilge with Drama.
20181203_122247 from Annette Mc Hugh on Vimeo. During PE we played a game called Fun and Run. This is an activity involving a team of batters and fielders. There was huge competition between the batters and the fielders group. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Golden Time allows the children to enjoy developing many educational skills through play. Here some children are threading, role playing and constructing items from lego.
In History, we looked at the story of Helen Keller and how she overcame many challenges to become a famous activist, author and lecturer. We re-enacted the way Helen learned how to recognize words from her teacher Anne Sullivan. In pairs one student closed their eyes and the other wrote on their hand trying to work out the word. We realized how lucky we are to have our eye sight. We learned also that Helen used Braille (an alphabet for the blind) which was discovered by Louis Braille.
