The lead up to Christmas was full of fun an excitement. We had Elvis the elf who was very mischievous over the last week. He got up to all sorts, mixing our bundles, writing on the board, having parties with the other toys etc. The juniors came to see Elvis and said he took their sweets! We carried out lots of lovely Christmas art: snow globes, Christmas portraits, nativity silhouette, fabric Christmas jumpers to name but a few. We were also preparing for our Christmas Day reflection. Finally we remembered the birds in the cold weather. We left out a bird feeder that attracted the robin along with lots of other little birds that we watched from our classroom window.
What excitement we had today in our class. When we were discussing 3D shapes we decided that some of the shapes would make a great house for an elf. We made "The Elf Inn" and painted it yesterday. Low and behold what appeared this morning only Elvis the elf. He said that he liked the house so much he was going to stay. A few suspicious things happened today and Elvis we think is rather mischievous. Photos to follow of Elvis and his house!
Following our discussion on 3D shapes we put our theory into practice by making 3D shapes with straws and lollipop sticks. There was great team work involved with everyone helping out to make their shape. We made cubes, cuboids and cylinders.
Congratulations to Owen and Frazer on achieving their red belt on Sunday for their karate skills with Green Dragon Karate Club.
Huge Congratulations to everyone who took part in the school concert on Sunday evening. They were fantastic. Many thanks to all parents for all their help and support in the run up to the concert and on the night. It is always very much appreciated. Here are some photos from our dress rehearsal and behind stage on the night! November was the month that we remembered all those who are up in heaven with God. We said a special prayer and designed a flower for our loved ones in heaven.
Ballintogher Tidy Towns are running an art competition. Children are asked to complete and return the poster by Friday the 11th of December if they wish to partake.
Rehearsals are well underway for our Christmas Concert which will take place on December 13th in Ballintogher Church at 6pm. Our concert will form part of the "Carols by Candlelight" evening. Thanks to all parents who have sent in costumes to date. There will be a full dress rehearsal next week and costumes will be sent home then. Everyone has put a huge amount of work into the preparations and we look forward to the night. Tickets are on sale for the concert and can be got from the school.
