We had a spooktacular day today. School was a very spooky place. Everyone made a wonderful effort with costumes and they looked fantastic. It varied from zoombie brides to superheroes to witches. We even had an appearance from Donald Trump and Mrs Brown!! Ms Kearins class got us all grooving and moving this morning to Thriller and Time Warp.
Today we visited The Hyde Bridge Gallery in Sligo. We were taken on a tour of the gallery which was entitled the "Invited Small Works Exhibition". The artists present explained to us the many materials used to create the exhibition. Over 40 small artworks were on display. On completing the tour we then had the opportunity to create a sketch and a collage inspired by any of the art that we saw. To finish our visit to the gallery we took a tour of W.B. Yeats work which was on show on the bottom floor of the building. We had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed the tour and workshop. For further details of the exhibition or if you wish to visit the gallery you can find more information on www.yeatssociety.com/the-hyde-bridge-gallery.html.
Following our trip to Strandhill Beach a couple of weeks ago we decided to construct our own Seashore Dioramas. We began by getting our shoe boxes ready. Once they were covered and painted we worked on other aspects of the box to create the seashore habitat. Using oil pastels, paints and other materials we created different seashore creatures. I think you will agree our finished dioramas are amazing. Students who wish to be on the Student Council this year are asked to have their presentations ready for tomorrow. They will give a short presentation as to why they feel they would be a good candidate for the council. Many thanks.
