Maths week continues and today we took to the outdoors to carry out a maths trail. 4th class came along to help us out.
Last Friday we went to support our senior boys and girls in their first hurling match. Some of our classmates Jake, Jason, Rian, Liana, and Lauren (3rd class) were playing and played super. While the game was in full swing so to were their supporters. Here is a clip of the very creative chant they came up with on the sideline.
St Teresas C from Annette Mc Hugh on Vimeo. This week is maths week and to celebrate all things maths we've been adding some fun activities into our daily maths lessons. Today we played snakes and ladders. Snakes and ladders is a great game to show the concept of counting on and back while also recognising the workings of the 100 square. We also have our guess the weight/ how many table on show this week. The children get to use their estimation skills and the closest to the correct weight/number on Friday win a prize.
We had a wonderful day today at Sligos Hyde Bridge Gallery. An exhibition by Heidi Wickman called "The Whisper of the bees" was on show. Firstly we were shown around the exhibition by artists Joe and Anna. To finish we all got to make our own bee using various materials such as cardboard, fabric, ribbon, pipecleaners and crayons to name but a few. We really enhjoyed our day and look forward to Joe coming to work with us in November as part of the Primary Colours Art Programme.
We made musical instruments last week. We designed them using paint stamps and old coloured paper. We made panpipes, guitars and harps. We all played in harmony this evening before we brought them home. ☆☆☆0
