As Autumn is very much on the agenda at the moment, we incorporated it into our Gaeilge and art also. We wrote about the squirrel (an tiora rua) in Gaeilge. We then constructed squirrels using toilet rolls, paint, tinfoil, fabric and a variety of materials in art. I think youll agree they look very happy in our "woodland" area!!
Today in music we sang and acted out a much loved song called Groovy Grandma. We loved the song and actions and had great fun singing and acting it out.
20181012_113543 from Annette Mc Hugh on Vimeo. Today, we went for a walk around our school grounds noting the various signs that are there. As we came across them we noted and discussed what they meant.
Andy Warhol (born Andrew Warhola 6 August 1928 – 22 February 1987) was part of the pop art movement. He was famous for exploring popular culture in his work, using brands like Coca Cola and Campbell's Soup (which was one of his favourite things to eat).Warhol liked to use bright colours and silk screening techniques to mass-produce artworks based on photographs of celebrities, like the famous image of Marilyn Monroe. Inspired by Andy Warhols 5 patterns of Nature art, the students were taught the idea that anything in nature can be categorized into one or more of the Five Patterns in Nature. Spiral, Meander, Packing, Branching, and Explosion. (Examples: Spiral: a seashell, a spider web; Meander: a snake's trail through the sand, ripples in the water; Packing: honeycombs of a beehive, grains of sand; Branching: trees, veins on a leaf; Explosion: a sunflower, a snowflake.)
