To celebrate Maths Week in our class we focused on a variety of topics. To start the week we worked on a variety of puzzles to challenge ourselves. As it is the lead into Halloween we used mashupmath.com/blog/2016/12/3/are-you-ready-for-12-days-of-holiday-math-challenges-xmmxg?rq=spooky each day. On Tuesday and Wednesday we worked on 2D Shapes. We all made 2d shapes using lollipop sticks. We then went outside and in groups worked on making a 2d shape from our bodies. This was interesting!! Thursday and Friday we put our estimation skills to the test. We guessed the weight of a pumpkin and a packet of sweets comparing heavy and light. We then guessed the amount of monkey nuts in the bag. Well done to Savannah who guessed 3.3kg for the pumpkin, to Aaron who guessed 35g for the sweets and Joel who guessed 130 monkey nuts in the bag. | |
